There has been a sneak peak at the waterfront area destined to become 'party central' during the next Rugby World Cup.

Prime Minister John Key unlocked the gates to Auckland's Queen's Wharf, which has been closed to the public for the last 95 years.

The wharf has being redeveloped for the 2011 event.

A competition's underway to decide the layout of the redevelopments on the wharf.
