An Auckland man in his 90's has taken to the sky in a bid to raise money for a childrens charity.

Maurice Gibson may look like your average 95-year-old, he even needs a walking stick, but don't be deceived as this grandad is an adrenaline junkie.

For his 95th birthday Gibson decided to go skydiving.

His doctor advised against it, his kids were not too sure either, but for Gibson there was no holding back.

"Live for today", he says.

With few nerves he took to the air, but this was not Gibson's first jump, he has done it before at the age of 90.

After a quick thumbs up they were off and from 4000 meters above the Waikato, it was time to free fall.

"I was exhilarated, it was a wonderful feeling and then when the parachute opened the view was absolutely marvellous", he says.

The landing went without a hitch.

"Really marvellous, I enjoyed every minute of it", says Gibson.

With the jump completed this kind hearted adventurer has raised around $3000 for Child Cancer.

And, he plans to do it all again on his 100th birthday.

"I think everyone should do it", he says.
