Police investigating the murder of Harold Skudder are focussing their efforts on interviewing potential witnesses on Sunday.
Skeletal remains believed to be those of the 38-year-old were found at the bottom of a steep bank in Upper Hutt, after a tip-off.
A 26 year-old has been charged with murder.
Detective Inspector Shane Cotter says his team will be interviewing people who knew both the accused and the deceased.
He believes other people have information about the case and he says it's now time for them to come forward.
Scene investigations at a site on Moonshine Hill Road and a house in Stokes Valley have been completed.
Cotter says it will be some time before they are sure the skeletal remains found in Upper Hutt are Skudder's. Cotter says dental records or DNA testing will be needed to confirm their suspicions.
A post-mortem will be carried out in the next few days, but the results may not be through for a week.
