Sir Edmund Hillary has left items from his expedition to Mt Everest to the Auckland Museum.
Museum marketing manager Margie Mellsop says the Hillary family has informed the museum of his wishes as detailed in his will.
Mellsop says the museum has always had a strong relationship with Sir Ed and his family and has had exhibitions of his trips to Mt Everest and Antarctica.
She is unsure exactly what items the museum will be receiving but says it's a privilege to have been left anything.
Mellsop says until they know what items they have been left, they will not know how they will display them.
