A man is in police custody after reports of a shot being fired at an address in Hastings.

Police received a call on Sunday afternoon that a man was making threats at a house in Nikau Street.

Inspector Paul Jermy says as police were making their enquiries, a shot was heard.

He says police retreated and the Armed Offenders Squad was called in.

Jermy says the situation was resolved just before 4.00pm when a 43-year-old man gave himself up.

Nobody was injured in the incident.
