Kaikohe police are urging residents to remain vigilant after a sexually motivated home invasion in the Northland town.
The female occupant of the house in suburban Kaikohe woke to find a male in her house at midnight on Sunday.
Police say the man has not been identified at this stage but they are following a number of avenues of inquiry.
Police are asking the Kaikohe public remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour immediately through 111.
The police want to speak to people who were in the area of the Kaikohe CBD and western residential area at around 12.00am that night and have witnessed anyone acting in a suspicious manner.
