Commemorative services have been held across New Zealand on Wednesday to mark Armistice Day.
It is the 91st anniversary of the end of World War I which fell on the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918.
In Auckland, a memorial service was held outside the War Memorial Museum while in Wellington the Governor General laid a wreath at the tomb of the unknown warrior.
In Christchurch, representatives from police, army, navy and the airforce lay wreaths at the Bridge of Remembrance.
Two minutes silence was observed at exactly 11am when World War One ended.
In Dunedin at exactly the same time, New Zealanders marked the occasion with canon fire and an historic mustang made a special fly-by over city.
Over 18,000 New Zealanders lost their lives in the first world war, 6,000 more than were killed in World War Two.
