Three people were airlifted by helicopter from the roof of their vehicle stuck in a Nelson river, the second rescue of its kind in less that a week.
The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter was this afternoon called out to the Appleby river, south of Nelson, where the trio's vehicle had become stuck in the middle of the river during an attempt to cross it.
Using a winch and rescue sling, the helicopter was able to quickly lift the individuals, two men and a woman, one at a time, to shore.
The helicopter carried out a similar rescue of another group of people on Tuesday.
