Searchers looking for two missing Japanese climbers on Aoraki Mt Cook have located a tent near the summit.
High winds and cloud mean it is not possible to rescue them at
this stage but one person has come out of the tent and waved.
Bad weather is forecast for the next day or so but rescuers are
hoping it will improve enough to drop off emergency supplies.
The two climbers were due out of the national park on Saturday
after a climb to the summit.
A helicopter search earlier was forced back by deteriorating
weather.
