The haka raises temperatures even when used in the most proper way, but some taking a dig at the All Blacks have made a complete mockery of it.
Spice Girls and the Australians have all had a go, now Scottish television is the lastest group to exploit the haka, this time in an effort to raise awareness on just how serious the unemployment situation is in the UK.
"The war dance is a kick arse way of basically promoting yourself," producer of the ad Simon Ross says.
Whether they get the real picture or not, it's a show stopper for train commutors from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.
Using the haka for publicity normally gets talk back host Willie Jackson going, but not this time.
He says the recent te matatini kapa haka festival also pounded out the unemployment message.
"I think it is good that our culture is used in that way. We got to learn to laugh at ourselves or we'll get too precious about everything," Willie Jackson says.
Jessica Willet, a Kiwi living in Scotland, emailed ONE News about how deeply offended she and a few Kiwis were when they saw the STV ad.
They felt it was a complete mockery of the haka and exploitation of something that was sacred to this country
And that's a concern echoed by outspoken Maori Party MP Hone Harawira.
But Willie Jackson says sometimes Maori need to get a sense of humour.
"We are people who know how to have a good laugh and good on the Scots people I say".
It's all about getting the jobless message across in a memorable way.
