The investigation into the Auckland school rugby brawl continues, with a disciplinary hearing adjourned until late Wednesday afternoon.

Auckland Grammar and Kelston Boys High representatives appeared before the Auckland Rugby Union disciplinary committee on Tuesday night to present their versions of what happened in the brawl at the end of their Auckland secondary schools rugby semi-final on Saturday.

A ruling had been expected on Tuesday night, but the committee has put the decision off until Wednesday.

The teams were told they would have to wait for video evidence to be studied to identify all the  players involved so those boys could appear before the board.

"We have agreed on all preliminary issues relating to the hearing and who is required to appear," committee chairwoman Sarah Jane Neville said.

"On that basis the matter is going to proceed tomorrow for a determination at Eden Park at 5pm."

Possible sanctions include suspensions of individual players, or an entire team.

Any suspensions would particularly hit Auckland Grammar, with its team due to contest the secondary schools final at the weekend following their 20-9 victory in Saturday's match. Auckland Grammar will meet Mt Albert Grammar School in the final.

Kelston Boys High on Tuesday suspended seven players from the school following the brawl, including five from the First XV and two from the Second XV who were watching the game.

Players and up to 100 spectators were caught up in the fight, which lasted five minutes.

Kelston High School released a statement before the hearing outlining its case. It says it is embarrassed and ashamed of what took place.

The school is refusing to take responsibility for what happened but it does say in no circumstances is it okay for one player to hit another.
