An airman who died in the Anzac Day helicopter crash has been remembered at his former school as a quietly determined and loyal friend.

Corporal Benjamin Carson was a pupil of St Andrew's College seven years ago and the school today offered the services of its chapel to family and friends of Carson.

School Chaplain Hamish Galloway says he remembers Carson's qualities well.

"It was his respectful, sincere, loyal and determined demeanour that I remember so well."

Squadron Sergeant Luke Miller also shared memories of his friend today.

"He'd actually turn up to class just that little bit earlier than me everyday and just flick open his book and pretend that he was studying in the morning just to get one up on me," says Miller.

The 25-year-old was one of three men who died on Anzac Day when their Iroquois helicopter crashed near Wellington.

The investigation into that crash is expected to take another six months.
