A South Auckland primary school will be closed for the rest of the week after an arson attack which has destroyed three buildings.
Police and fire investigators have shut down Mangere East School as they sift through what's left of seven classrooms.
About 80 fire-fighters with 16 fire trucks fought yesterday afternoon's fire.
Board Of Trustees spokesman Peter Sykes says the school's whole math resource is gone, along with the teaching space for 150 students.
He has no idea why someone would want to attack the school.
Meanwhile, Kerikeri High School will also be closed at least today and tomorrow after fire destroyed the school's science block.
Sunday's blaze is also being treated as arson.
Kerikeri police say they are following good lines of inquiry but are still asking the public for information.
It is hoped a surveillance system recently installed at the school will yield useful information about the cause of the fire.
They believe the same culprits may have been responsible for rubbish bin fires at nearby Skate Park.
