A campaign encouraging safer road behaviour between cyclists and motorists is being launched in Auckland on Monday.
'Share the Road' is a joint initiative between the Auckland Regional Council, the New Zealand Transport Agency, Road Safe Auckland, the AA, Road Safe and Cycle Action.
Regional Transport Committee chair Christine Rose says driving can be stressful and challenging, and with cyclists in the mix extra tensions often arise.
She says equally, cyclists are very vulnerable and the road can be a scary place if you don't have the protective shell of a car body.
Rose says that's why encouraging mutual respect and appreciation between car and bike users is so important.
