The silly season is the selling season for Christmas tree sellers across the country as the general rush for trees begins this weekend.
ONE News went to a Christmas tree farm in Auckland and took a look at some of the 6,000 different types of pine tree for sale.
If customers aren't after a 17-foot macrocarpa, they have the option of smaller trees which owner Ash Commerer says older couples may just want to "put on their coffee table."
There are also upside-down options - Commerer tells kids the seed was planted upside down - as well as the classic pinus radiates, the Douglas firs and the Norwegian spruce.
"You're looking at $20 for a 6-foot tree, $25 for a 7-foot, and a nice 8-foot tree will cost you $30," says Commerer.
To keep your Christmas tree green and lush, Commerer recommends that the tree is re-cut once at the home and put straight into water.
