Prince William has arrived to a somewhat muted welcome in Auckland on his first visit as an official representative of the Queen.
The second in line to the throne was met from a regular Air New Zealand flight from London by Prime Minister John Key, his wife Bronagh and Governor General Anand Satyanand.
He wasted no time in heading to Eden Park where the self-confessed rugby fan was given a tour of the future World Cup venue. He found time to have a kick around with some locals, including All Blacks Richie McCaw and Dan Carter, and an under-10s team.
"I just love seeing everyone and seeing more of New Zealand," Prince William says.
Chris Jackson from Getty Images says the visit is not as frenetic as some tours with their vastly increased security.
"It seems to be very chilled out here, and I think (Prince William) will enjoy himself."
The prince also set sail in cloudy weather on Auckland Harbour, taking the helm of one of New Zealand's America's Cup yachts.
On Sunday night Prince William will attend an informal hangi at Government House in Auckland, completing what was designed to be a very relaxed day.
On Monday the prince will fly to Wellington where he will represent the Queen at the opening of the new Supreme Court building.
Other activities include a wreath laying at the National War Memorial, a barbecue at Premier House and a visit to Wellington Children's Hospital.
Members of the public will have a chance to see Prince William when he does a walkabout after the Supreme Court opening.
He leaves for Australia on Tuesday.
