The small town of Rawene is the latest in Northland to have water restrictions imposed because of drought conditions.
Flows in the Petaka Stream which services Rawene are continuing to fall.
It joins Kaitaia, Opononi, Omapere, Kawakawa and Moerewa, where the Far North District Council has placed bans on water use.
Council spokesman David Penny says the Rawene water situation is not critical yet, but if water is not conserved now, the town could be caught short in the very near future.
