Children' advocates are criticising a selection of baby t-shirts available at a popular franchise.
The Cotton On Kids range is supposed to be funny but not everyone's laughing.
One of the t-shirts carries the slogan "The condom broke" and a picture of an angry couple.
Another t-shirt reads "I'm living proof that mum is easy".
The t-shirts are sold at the Australian-owned franchise Cotton On Kids, causing alarm amongst child advocates .
"People just think it's funny. But actually when you look at it and the impression it gives people, it certainly isn't funny," says Patricia Woodley of the National Council of Women.
ONE News took the shirts to the local park for a taste test with regular mums and dads.
Three parents said they would not dress their children in the t-shirts.
There have been other recent children's clothing controversies. Last year, Jay Jays were widely criticised for a range.
But unlike those shirts, the Cotton On Kids range will not be removed from the racks. Cotton On's New Zealand representative told ONE News their clothes cater for many tastes. The slogans aren't for everyone, but going by sales, New Zealanders love them.
