Queen's birthday to become Hillary weekend?

Queen's Birthday weekend could be a thing of the past, if a group of Auckland businesses get their way.

Newmarket Business Association is calling on the government to rename the holiday Hillary Weekend.

Spokesman Cameron Brewer says there's a hunger from the public to do something special to honour Sir Ed.

Brewer says as it's already a holiday it wouldn't cost anything to change the name.

He says in a hundred years time Hillary weekend would still tell a great story - compared to Queen's birthday which doesn't carry a legacy.
