A man has been charged after the quad bike he was driving crashed in Hawke's Bay, nearly claiming the life of his six-year-old daughter.
Daniel McGregor, 28, from Waimarama, is facing four charges including driving with excess breath alcohol causing injury, reckless driving, cultivating cannabis, possessing cannabis and possessing utensils.
McGregor, his daughter Ashlee Shorrock, 6, and three other adults were on the quad bike when it crashed on Okaihau Rd, Waimarama, shortly before midnight on January 2.
Ashlee suffered numerous injuries to her face, neck, spine and back and had a fractured skull after she was flung from the bike.
She has been transferred from Auckland Starship Hospital to the Wilson Rehabilitation Centre in Auckland.
No one else is facing charges over the incident.
McGregor will appear in Hastings District Court on February 19 to face the charges.
