Three teenagers are in police custody after a police chase in Wellington early this morning.
The chase began around 2am when police in Stokes Valley spotted a suspected stolen vehicle.
The driver refused to stop, and drove through suburban streets and along State Highway Two towards Wellington, reaching speeds of 140 kilometres.
The pursuit ended after about 25 minutes in Ngauranga when the vehicle stopped and the driver ran off.
He was then tracked down by a police dog.
The 17-year-old driver is facing a raft of charges, including evading police and driving with an excess breath alcohol level.
His 16 and 18 year old passengers were also arrested.
