Elvis Shepherd - Source: ONE News
Prominent Maori educator Elvis Shepherd is tonight behind bars after he was found guilty of sexual attacks on teenage students at his second high court trial at Palmerston North.
Shepherd was convicted on four historic charges of sexual violation and indecent assault on two victims from Hato Petera, a Maori boys' school on Auckland's North Shore.
Shepherd had been a dorm master and te reo teacher at the time of the incidents in 1990 and 94. He maintained his innocence throughout the trial, claiming one of the acts was consensual.
He will be sentenced in September.
