Power has been restored after multiple explosions off a bridge in south Auckland caused outages to parts of the area this morning.
The incident occured after an 11 kilovolt power cable faulted along the Weymouth Road over bridge, near the Manurewa train station, causing mulitple explosions and a fireball.
Nearly 2000 Vector customers were affected by the incident.
Vector said the feeder has now been restored and repairs are being undertaken.
The power outage caused serious delays and disruptions as buses were unable to enter the Manurewa interchange.
The Manurewa train station, which lies under the bridge, was temporarily closed but has since reopened. Services are now returning to normal.
Transport updates are being sent via text and public announcement to customers on the rail network.
The only evacuation following the incident was from the neighbouring South Mall Shopping Centre carpark.
