Police have staged a blitz on illegal street racing and unsafe cars in Christchurch.
They hope new laws which enable them to seize and crush cars will crush the illegal behaviour too.
Friday night's operation saw dozens of unsafe cars taken off the road.
"We're trying to send the message to them that some of their behaviour is not going to be tolerated with the advent of the new laws that have come into effect, and hopefully make some difference to the future," says Senior Sergeant Trevor Pullen.
