Detectives have returned to the Remuera home of missing Auckland woman Carmen Thomas.

Inquiry head Mark Benefield said he is encouraged by public response to the disappearance of the 32 year-old escort and is appealing to anyone else who has met her in any capacity to make contact. He says their confidentiality will be respected.

Police are conducting an area canvas of CBD locations she frequents.

"All available CBD security surveillance footage that may be relevant to the enquiry is being sought and examined. There is a lot of ground to cover."

The mother of one was last seen in Auckland on 1 July 2010 and was reported missing to on Tuesday. Her Nissan Pulsar has since been found in Hamilton.

Benefield said it is unusual for Carmen Thomas to not have had contact with her five year-old son.

Twenty police officers are working on the case today.
