Police in Auckland have hit Auckland's streets as they continue
the hunt for the killer of taxi driver Hiren Mohini.
But one week on, they are no closer to finding a man of interest
caught on security camera in the CBD.
While the bright lights of a taxi stand can be a comforting sight at the end of a night out for many in the city, right now it's the drivers that need reassurance.
A taxi driver ONE News spoke to says that while it is scary what happened to Mohini and a lot of the drivers would rather not work in the night time, it is the only way to make extra money.
It has been a week now since Mohini, a father of two, was repeatedly stabbed to death, in what police described as a frantic attack, by a passenger.
Seven days later, police are going back to where he picked up his last fare. They say they have a person of interest they would like to speak to.
The photo of a man carrying a blue bag similar to the one found with blood on it near the murder scene is being circulated throughout the central city.
It is a face drivers say they are committing to memory.
Police are also trying to track the route the man took, by scanning the vision from hundreds of security cameras in downtown Auckland.
But so far they say they have no idea who he is.
"The only still we have is the one that has been released. However, we do plea to the public; he must be someone's work colleague, family member, someone known to them. We do want to eliminate him from the inquiry," Detective Sergeant Bridget Doull of Auckland City Police says.
Police would like anyone who recognises the man or the bag to call 0800 EDGEWATER (0800 444 014)
