Police have released the name of a woman who was found dead in the Ruahine Ranges late yesterday afternoon.
She was 22-year-old Tommie Moana McKinnon from Woodville.
Police say her death is not being treated as suspicious and the matter has been referred to the coroner who will rule on her untimely death in due course.
Inspector David White said the body was found by searchers near the Wharite Peak communication tower in the Ruahine Ranges.
Her car had been located on Whariti Road around 12pm on Sunday and a search and rescue operation was launched.
White said the scene remained under police guard overnight and a full scene examination was undertaken today.
He said police are providing support to the family at this "very
sad time".
