Police have identified a body found on a Wellington beach as 74-year-old Edna Mae Cairns.
Cairns, also known as Mae, had been missing from her Karori home since Monday.
Her body was found by a member of the public on rocks near Scorching Bay shortly before 2pm yesterday.
A post-mortem was carried out this morning, and Detective Sergeant Corey Watts of the Wellington CIB said it will be up to a coroner to decide the cause of Cairns' death.
"However, we can confirm that we do not believe that Mae Cairns was the subject of foul play and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death," he said.
A three day search, which at one point involved around 40 people, was stood down following the discovery of the body.
