  • Police bust $200,000 cannabis operation

Police have busted a $200,000 cannabis growing operation in Waikato.

Officers found 100 plants worth $50,000 and a quantity of dried cannabis and cash when they carried out a search warrant at a house in Arapuni Village, near Putaruru, on Saturday night, Detective Sergeant Kevin Verry, of Tokoroa police, says.

It was an elaborate cannabis growing operation with a potential value of $200,000 a year.

A 28-year-old local man was arrested and charged with cultivating cannabis and possession of cannabis for supply.

It was likely he would face more charges and further arrests were possible, Verry says.
