Bay of Plenty's drug trade has been dealt a major blow today with the arrest of 18 people.

Police arrested ten men and eight women on a variety of charges including possession and supply of Class A and C drugs, cultivating cannabis, and receiving stolen property.

They also recovered methamphetamine, LSD, cannabis, cannabis plants and stolen property from Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and Te Puke.

"We have sent a clear message today that we will not tolerate drugs in our community," said Detective Sergeant Darryl Brazier.

"We will continue to shake the trees until those people intent on criminal offending realise that they have nowhere to hide and that they need to start doing something more productive with their lives."

About 40 officers took part in today's operation, including armed officers and police dogs.
