A memorial service has been held in France for the seven people killed in the crash of an Air New Zealand plane last year.
Five New Zealanders and two German crew members died when the A320 Airbus went down during a test flight at Perpignan, in south-eastern France.
The service, which began at 3am NZT, was attended by about 30 people from New Zealand, Germany, France and XL Airways, the airline which was leasing the plane at the time of the crash.
Air New Zealand's Deputy Chief Executive Officer Norm Thompson spoke during the ceremony and a memorial plaque, containing a piece of West Coast greenstone, was unveiled at a large rock overlooking the crash site.
The families of the victims were then taken by boat to the site at the exact time the plane went down a year ago.
