Veteran broadcaster Paul Holmes is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after having open heart surgery.
The 62-year-old presenter of TVNZ's Q A programme went into hospital for a standard heart procedure on June 1, but doctors say it was unsuccessful.
Yesterday's operation was to correct the original problem and clear up anticipated problems.
Holmes' wife Deborah has told ONE News the operation went to plan.
The broadcaster could be out of action for two to three months.
