'Orange balls of light' sighted above Otaki

Police are investigating a number of reported sightings of bright orange balls of light in the sky above Otaki, north of Wellington, this morning.

Police say they do not know what they were, but believe it is nothing sinister.

Otaki resident Trish says she saw the lights just after 7am, and is wondering what they could be.

Trish says there were eight or nine of them, and they stayed for only a few seconds in the dawn sky.
