One person is dead in a crash involving a car and motorcycle in Kaikoura.
The accident happened about 7pm in Goose Bay, south of Kaikoura, St John northern region's public relations co-ordinator Ian Henderson said.
"We sent two ambulances from Kaikoura, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter with St John paramedics on board from Christchurch, and the Primary Response in a Medical Emergency doctor from Kaikoura."
"Police and the fire service also attended."

Henderson said one person died at the scene.
A man was flown by rescue helicopter to Christchurch Hospital emergency department with serious injuries while a second person with minor injuries was taken to the medical centre in Kaikoura.
Henderson could provide no other details.
Police are investigating.
