A man has died after his four-wheel-drive collided with a truck on State Highway One, south of Dunedin.
Police responded to the crash, just south of the Taieri River Bridge, at around 2pm.
The driver of the four-wheel-drive died at the scene while the truck driver was taken to Dunedin Hospital to be assessed.
The Dunedin Serious Crash investigator was sent to the scene and traffic diversions were put in place.
Earlier, a motorcyclist died in a crash on Thompsons Track in Bay of Plenty.
Emergency services attended the scene, about 12 kilometres from Te Aroha.
The serious crash unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
