New Zealand's only Mormon school, Hamilton's Church College, has closed after 51 years of secondary schooling.
The school has not taken in junior students since 2006 when the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints announced the closure, saying the church's resources could be better used elsewhere.
The future of the school, which is a feature of the suburb of Temple View and was well known for its sporting achievements, is unclear, the Waikato Times reports.
Principal Lloyd Keung, who has been at the school since 1971, says staff and students had been mentally and emotionally preparing for the closure.
