A Nelson man facing more than 100 sex charges can now be named.
William "Bill" Herbert Mortensen, 53, a self-employed carpet cleaner, was in the Nelson District Court today for his third appearance.
He faces 108 new charges including unlawful sexual connection with a girl under the age of 12.
He also faces charges of knowingly making, supplying and possessing objectionable material.
Today police successfully opposed name suppression orders in the hope members of the public may be able to provide further information relevant to the investigation.
Mortensen first appeared in court in January on two charges of unlawful sexual connection with a male aged 12 to 16 years of age, along with two charges of indecent assault on a male under the age of 16.
At his second appearance in February Mortensen faced another 18 charges.
These included performing an indecent act on a girl under 12 years of age, committing an indecency with an animal, assault with intent to injure and theft.
Mortensen has been remanded in custody to appear in the Nelson District Court on June 25.
