Murder charge laid after Hamilton death

Police have laid a murder charge over the death of a man outside his house in the Hamilton suburb of Chartwell.

A post mortem examination has revealed Jaycee Van Der Drift died from a head injury he received during a fight.

A 26-year-old man will appear in the Hamilton District Court on Friday charged with his murder.

He and a 17-year-old man have also been charged with unlawful assembly.

Police say further charges are likely.
