A motorcyclist has died after colliding with a car in the Auckland suburb of Beachlands today.
The incident happened on Beachlands Road between the junction with Shelley Bay Road and Constellation Avenue just before 12.40pm.
Senior Sergeant Matt Rogers, from the police northern communications centre, said the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two people in the car suffered minor injuries.
Details on the dead person are not available at this stage.
Police are at the scene of the crash and have closed Beachlands Road whilst they conduct their investigation.
Unfortunately the closure of Beachlands Road is situated where there is no alternate route to Beachlands or Pine Harbour.
Police have requested patience from motorists who are unable to get to or from these areas whilst the road is closed.
