Motorcycle crash leaves one dead

A person has been killed following a crash involving a car and a motorcycle near Prebbleton this afternoon.

Another person has been rushed to Christchurch Hospital by helicopter in a critical condition.

Three others involved in the crash are also in hospital.

Police have cordoned off the road while the crash investigation unit and a police photographer gather evidence about the cause of the crash.

Meanwhile, a person has died after a motorcycle collided with a tree in Counties Manukau this afternoon.

Police were notified of the accident on Great South Road, Ramarama, shortly before 4pm.

Next of kin are yet to be notified.
