A 27-year-old woman has appeared in court over the discovery of a baby's body in Christchurch earlier this week.
She has been charged with disposing of the dead body of a child, with intent to conceal the fact of its birth, sometime between July 1, 2009 and August 30, 2009.
The woman has been granted interim name suppression. She is described as unemployed and of no fixed abode and was remanded on bail without plea to March 5.
He granted the suppression order at the request of defence counsel Gilbert Hay who said there were some medical matters which were of concern.
The woman was found by police on Thursday, 24 hours after the baby was found in a shed behind a boarding house in suburban Waltham on Wednesday.
The 12-or-so people who are living at the boarding house are staying in motels, while police carry out a scene investigation.
Police and forensic technicians will continue working at the property for the next three to four days.
