The gumboot capital of New Zealand is celebrating a special anniversary this weekend.
The central North Island town of Taihape has received international recognition after 25 years of gumboot throwing.
And this year the competition has been subject to new rules.
The throwing area has been re-designed, providing a much longer run-up before launching the gumboot.
The gumboot has also had to change to meet a strict weight regime - contestants can no longer take off their old farm boot and give it a heave. Skellerup have made a special range of gumboots just for the Taihape competition.
The higher standard required at Taihape this year means the gumboot throwing may not be as carefree - but it has the added bonus of a $2000 prize for anyone who can hurl a world record.
