All Black rugby great Michael Jones is having another think about whether to enter politics as he prepares to become a father again.

Jones, who is seen as a possible National Party list candidate, and wife Maliena are due to have their third child in June.

That was causing the 44-year-old former flanker to consider his future again and he expected to have a clear idea in the next six months about whether to stand for Parliament.

"Obviously there's been an invitation to consider politics," he told The New Zealand Herald.

"Whilst there is a part of me that says I don't know if it's naturally where I'd gravitate to, I'd do it if I felt it was where I would make the most contribution."

Friend and fellow ex-All Black teammate Va'aiga Tuigamala is expected to make his decision this month about whether to pursue a parliamentary career.
