Two 20 year old men have gone on trial, charged with the 2007 murder of Aucklander Daryl Graydon.
The men, whose names are suppressed, are charged with murdering Mr Graydon and attempting to murder another man.
Graydon was stabbed to death while walking home from a party in Howick in December 2007.
A friend who was with him was also attacked.
Crown prosecutor Steve Symon today told the High Court in Auckland that the men planned the attack and armed themselves with three kitchen knives after one of them was punched in the face during a fight.
The trial is expected to last three weeks.
