A former high-profile businessman has been granted name suppression after an early morning raid at his central Auckland apartment block.
Twenty armed officers stormed a block of apartments in Newton around 6am, arresting three people.
The businessman appeared in the Auckland District Court today on drugs and firearms charges.
A 33-year-old man was also charged over unpaid fines, and a 16-year-old girl has been charged with breaching bail.
Officers also searched cars and took away imitation firearms and laptops.
Resident Frank Squire was cuffed and questioned before being released.
"The whole building was surrounded by police and they were breaking down 28 doors," he told ONE News.
"You could hear them going simultaneously from room to room,
breaking down the doors."
