A woman caught up in a police chase in south Auckland this morning is receiving support after her car was hit by an offender fleeing police.

Two people have been arrested after the police chase along the Southern Motorway ended in Manurewa this morning.

The offender's vehicle rammed a stationary police car which was acting as a road block near the Mobil Petrol Station on the corner of Mahia Rd and Great South Rd.

"The offender's stolen vehicle rebounded off the police car and onto a member of the community's vehicle," Acting Area Commander Richard Wilkie said.

"The innocent community member received minor injuries to the shoulder. She was examined by ambulance staff at the scene and released. She is receiving assistance from Victim Support."

A 36-year-old male and his female passenger, aged 32, have been arrested in relation to the crash. The male, who was well known to police, had 18 outstanding warrants to arrest.

Both will appear in the Manukau District Court tomorrow morning.
