McDonald's says it got raw deal

McDonald's thinks it has had a raw deal from the New Zealand Herald over the publication of a report about a maggot in an Angus meal.

The story quoted an Auckland woman saying she wasn't happy with the restaurant chain's handling of her complaint.

McDonald's says it gave the Herald independent proof the maggot was not from the store.

Managing Director Mark Hawthorne says he was disappointed when the paper went ahead with publication.

McDonald's has responded by withdrawing copies of the paper and is in talks about future advertising
