Man seriously injured after service station fight

A man has been left with serious injuries after a fight at a petrol station in Wainuiomata last night.

The 27-year-old was taken to hospital in a critical condition following the altercation at the Caltex service station on the Strand.

Police said the incident happened just after midnight, when a blue four-door sedan stopped outside the petrol station, and an argument started between two occupants and two other men.

The men got out of the car and started fighting with the men at the service station.

After the fight, the car sped away, and the badly injured victim was taken to hospital.

Police are appealing for anyone who was at the service station or who may have been in the area and witnessed what happened to come forward.
