Man's throat slashed during Whangarei brawl

A man has had his throat slashed during a fight in Whangarei early this morning.

Police report that a fight broke out at 2.10am between three men in the Whangarei CBD.

The 18 year-old victim is now in Whangarei Hospital undergoing emergency surgery.

According to police, the man's condition is not life threatening, and he is expected to make a full recovery.

A 17 year-old man has been arrested in relation to the incident and will appear in the Whangarei District Court on Monday.
