Man rescued from water on Auckland beach

A 42-year-old man has been pulled out of the water at Kariotahi on Auckland's West Coast on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency Services say he had taken in a fair amount of salt water and needed oxygen.

They say he was conscious and alert, and was taken to hospital by land ambulance.

And a seven year old boy has been rushed to hospital after having a possible heart attack at Whangatea near Omaha Beach, north of Auckland.

He was taken to hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
